Screw air compressors rely on oil to seal the clearance between the rotors, lubricate the bearings, and dissipate heat from compression. This process creates a mixture of highly atomized air and oil. The oil separator is tasked with separating this mixture through a multi-stage process of mechanical intercept, inertial impaction, and coalescence.

Stage 1: Centrifugal Mechanical Separation

Before entering the separator element, the air-oil mixture enters the receiver vessel tangentially.
